Wes P. Wollenweber
Attorney and Counselor at Law
Hopkins Tschetter Sulzer
Wes is a proud native Coloradoan who comes from ranching homesteaders on both sides of his family, including his great grandfather, who emigrated to Colorado from Germany and ranched a large acreage of land near what is now Broadway and Dry Creek in Littleton, Colorado. A graduate of Arvada West High School, Wes received a degree in Communications from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He earned his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. Wes' practice at Hopkins Tschetter Sulzer focuses on employment and Fair Housing law, commercial litigation, and Homeowner Associations.
During and after law school, Wes worked for the National Labor Relations Board in Detroit, Michigan, where private sector unions are still strong. He acquired extensive first hand experience in labor and employment law in Detroit, which is considered the heart of America's labor movement. Wes returned to the Denver metro area in 1997 and joined the law firm of Machol & Johannes. In 1999, he became an associate at Hopkins Tschetter and has been associated with the Firm, which is now Hopkins Tschetter Sulzer, except for a brief period in 2003 when he left to pursue outside interests.
Wes has a passion for being a lawyer and considers it a vocation and a true calling, not just a job. He loves being an advocate for clients and thrives on the opportunity to give voice to those who need to go to court to tell their side of the story. A dedicated trial attorney, Wes has tried all kinds of cases, including wrongful employment/termination cases, various landlord-tenant cases, and housing discrimination cases. Wes particularly enjoys the challenges in employment law, including race discrimination, sexual harassment, and reverse discrimination claims, age discrimination cases, and non-compete disputes. Wes, along with Peter Muccio, leads the Firm's HOA department.
Our property management clients know Wes best from his work on a wide variety of Fair Housing issues, which he considers some of the most important aspects of his practice. His commitment to Fair Housing law is best exhibited in the Fair Housing training Wes provides, along with Managing Partner Mark Tschetter, to Housing Providers and Homeowner Associations across the state. Wes regularly writes articles for the Firm's HOA Communicator and has published various employment articles in such publications as the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association's "Trial Talk."
True to his Western heritage, Wes likes to snowboard and fly fish. He has even been seen wearing his cowboy boots while in court during jury trials. His hobbies also include archery and playing the piano. His wife, Susan, is a health care administrator, a certified Six Sigma specialist, and an educator. The essence of who Wes is professionally can be summed up by his favorite quotation from Martin Luther King, Jr. - "Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of justice."
